Parent reps and coaches:

Nationals registration is soon upon us.  Registration starts as early as Jaunary 21st.  Since some tournaments fill up rather quickly, its important that you keep an eye on the deadlines.  Chris Williamson would like to get the following by January 19th:

1.  Cheque for registration fee, made out to BMO Mastercard (as in handbook)  Use a Team Account Withdrawl form if you need funds from your team account.
2.  Additional Tournament Registration Form (as in handbook)
3.  A team roster with player name, jersey number, position and height in centimetres; plus coaches
If you need further info please including the registration periods and team limits please go here on the Volleyball Canada web site.
If you have funds in your team account that you wish to use, you can arrange to come by next Wednesday night Jan 16th after 7 and I can write you a cheque on the spot, if that helps.  Bring the Team Account Withdrawal Form.

Many sports clubs don’t last ten years.  But we have something really special here at DA that our athletes, parents and alumni believe in, and we will celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2012!  To comemorate the occasion we are planning to produce really SPECIAL clothing for our 2011-2012 season.

We are looking for a logo and slogan design that reflects our values, our achievements, and the culture of our club in all that we do – competitively, recreationally, and with our emerging programs such as Sitting Volleyball.

In return, you can win a Hundred Bucks cash, some SWAG, and bragging rights for an eternity.

Sixes for Stewie – Help Dave Fight Cancer

Posted in 2010-2011, Tournaments on March 10, 2011 by DurhamAttack

Mar 10, 2011. Dave Stewart is a 25-year old Durham Attack Alumni who graduated from the club seven yers ago, and went on to a varsity career playing rugby at Wilfred Laurier.  Dave is battling cancer and Invado has set up a fundraising tournament and party with all proceeds going to Dave to help him in his fight.

It is a co-ed sixes tournament (4 guys, 2 girls) run locally at Kingsway College on Sunday April 17th; registration fee is $180 and deadline is April 12th.

Again, all proceeds go to Dave.

That’s only thirty bucks each to help one of our former players – let’s get a few Durham Attack teams out – coaches, parents and our older players.   Tournament details are here.

2011 Beast of the East – Cancelled

Posted in 2010-2011, Tournaments on March 10, 2011 by DurhamAttack

Important Note:  The Beast of the East has been cancelled for 2011, due to timing conflicts with Nationals.

We are hosting our 3rd annual National Elite Invitational “Beast of the East” tournament for 18U girls and 18U boys during the weekend of May 6-8th, 2011.  After the success of the last two years, we have expanded the tournament to be comprised of 16 elite teams at each age group, from across the country and from the U.S.

This year we are again expecting teams from cost to coast.  The Beast of the East will once again be hosted at Durham College/ UOIT.

To best allow teams to prepare for Nationals, this tournament will be a three-day event and will closely mimic the National Championship format,  including the use of the official Volleyball Canada game ball for nationals.

The cost will be $350 for Ontario and Quebec teams, and to assist teams from outside the province with their travel expenses, all teams from outside of Ontario and Quebec will have their registration fee waived.

If the past two years are any indicator, the 2011 Beast of the East will again provide the top teams in the country with a chance to play before Nationals.

As a number of teams have already reserved their spots, please reply asap as spots are limited.  Once teams have registered, I will forward all accommodation and schedule information needed.

If you have any suggestions or questions please do not hesitate to contact me at
