Looking for Volunteers for Next Season!

Posted in Parents on June 21, 2013 by DurhamAttack

To maintain our programs and grow our club, we are looking for people to join our team and help us next season.  Please take a look at the following roles and see if there is one that you can help us with.  None of them require specialized knowledge, and most will only require a few hours here and there, or at most a couple hours per week.  Members in each of the roles will be completely supported by the executive team.

Banquet photos… and please read – HELP US GROW OUR CLUB

Posted in 2012-2013, Parents on May 30, 2013 by DurhamAttack

We’ve posted some photos of our banquet here.  We captured a few pics of some of our award winners, but we would like to post more, so if you have any pictures you want to post then please send them to me.

Ending a season is a bittersweet moment as a coach, as after competition has ended you feel a void when you’re not able to see your athletes until the next season.  It is the same for the Club executive, as we exist in this role to facilitate the success of all of our coaches and teams, and over the season get a chance to meet and support everyone in the Club.

We cannot put into words how proud we are of all of our athletes and coaches, and how they have developed both on and off the court.  This is what motivates us as a Club to do even more next season.

It was amazing to see Deer Creek absolutely full with 19 teams of athletes and parents, nearly 400 people!

Next year should be larger!  We want to sustain, and grow our club, from the 19 teams we have this year, to more next year.  We have an amazing capacity within us, so many talented people.  We know that more athletes want to play, and that the OVA will be pushing the age groups downwards to help us grow as a sport.  As a Club our biggest failure is to leave athletes on the street that want to play.  To that end our biggest constraint is coaches.  Which should be a solvable problem…

Our #1 philosophy is to invest in our athletes.  We primarily do that by investing in our coaches, through NCCP training, certification, our own additional training, and mentoring.  If you want to coach, we will support you.

If you would like to try coaching Club volleyball in a progressive and nationally respected organization, we need you!

If you have a son or daughter that plays, and you have experience playing we need you!

If you have never played (like me) but want to contribute to a great Club that your son or daughter have benefited from, we need you!

Though we are one of the most respected Clubs in the country, we aspire to do much more and provide more for our athletes.  But we can only do this with your help.

If you would like to be part of a team that helps us take our Club to the next level, as a coach or otherwise, please contact anyone in our executive.

Sincerely,
Durham Attack Executive

We have a great weekend of workshops scheduled for athletes, coaches and parents on Saturday/Sunday October 13/14.  Here is the complete schedule.  We apologize for the delay on Sunday, but we only recently found out that the gym was not available earlier.

DA Training Weekend Oct 13-14

Attendance is mandatory for our teams and coaches, but if you are a parent we also have a lot to offer in two sessions that you need:

  • Mental Training Considerations for Parents – Kyle Paquette had rave reviews when he conducted this session for our Ontario Winter Games Team
  • Scorekeeping – almost everyone will need to know how to keep score using an OVA score sheet.

We ask that parents RSVP so that we know numbers attending.  Please click this link to RSVP.
